Huntington was VERY busy. All sno-parks full, mostly day trippers without sleds. Had to be patient and careful around the sno-parks. We were lucky to get a spot for our trailer at the Lakeshore sno-park and went on a few nice rides.
First ride – went to Mushroom Rock Vista. Lots of bumps on the main road around the lake, but once we got past the dam it was nice riding. Lost a little cover on Mushroom Rock Trail on the sunny side of the hill, but all the other routes were great.
Second ride – took Kaiser to Edison Lake and a little beyond. Lots of whoops for the first 7 miles or so, and lots of sleds (all rentals were out). But once we got farther out it was great, smooth riding. Good cover and lots of tracks to follow.
Other rides were short here and there, had some fun, but there was just too many people for us. We’ll keep to going before or after Christmas break in the future.
Also, if I might add. For those newbies going out, please familiarize yourself with mountain rules and general courtesies. We saw way too much trash, came across groups taking up the whole trail, and when we had a sled die on us had about 15 sleds pass with NO ONE offering any help. I know there are great people who snowmobile at Huntington, but none of them seemed to be there this weekend :/
